FAQ
General Questions
Can I run just one bot instead of both?
Absolutely. Either bot works independently. Rascal is recommended as a solo bot since he handles more admin features (giveaways, starboard, free games, etc.). Halcyon is great for communities that prefer a calmer presence.
Do the bots work in multiple servers?
Yes. All data is isolated per server. Module settings, economy, XP, and memories are completely separate between servers.
Are my conversations private?
Yes. The AI runs locally - nothing is sent to external services. The only exception is the Pollinations.ai image fallback, which is opt-in only and clearly disclosed.
Will the bots spam my server?
No. The bots only speak when spoken to (via commands, mentions, or replies), unless interjection is enabled - and even then, the frequency is configurable and defaults to low. Level-ups only come from Rascal (Halcyon is silent).
Features
Why do some features say "Rascal only"?
Features that fire on events (member joins, reactions, scheduled tasks) only trigger through Rascal to prevent duplication. Halcyon still tracks data silently - she just doesn't send the notification.
How do I enable a module?
Server admins can enable modules through the admin dashboard. Some modules also have setup commands (like !ticketsetup or !autorole).
Can members earn both XP and currency?
Yes. XP and economy are separate systems. XP comes from messages automatically. Currency comes from daily claims and admin-configured sources.
Do the bots need special Discord permissions?
For basic chat, they only need Send Messages and Read Message History. For full functionality (tickets, roles, moderation), they need Manage Channels, Manage Roles, and Manage Messages. See the Invite & Setup page for the complete list.
Troubleshooting
The bot isn't responding to my messages
- Make sure the bot is in the channel (check channel permissions)
- Try @mentioning the bot directly
- Check if the module you're trying to use is enabled
- Use /rsettings to verify the channel is active
Commands aren't showing up in the / menu
Slash commands can take up to an hour to register after the bot joins. If they still don't appear, the server admin should run /setup_r or /setup_h to re-sync.
I set up a module but it's not working
Most modules need to be both enabled (in the dashboard) and configured (channel set, role set, etc.). Check the module's setup command for required configuration steps.
