The First Blink
First-Person Psychological Survival Horror · VR + PC · 45 to 90 Minutes
Before there was anything, there was silence. Then the Observer blinked.
The Game
Hunted by things that only move when you blink.
You walk a lightless void in first person: floating stone slabs, fractured ribs of dim light like broken cathedral arches, chain links the size of houses hanging from nothing. You cannot fight. You have a slow walk, one interaction input, and your own eyelids. Every blink is a blackout, and in that blackout the void takes its turn.
In VR, the game reads your real blinks through native eye tracking. On PC, a button or a webcam stands in for your eyelids.
The Premise
A cosmos as consequence.
The Stillpoint was perfect silence, and the Observer existed inside it wanting nothing at all. Then the Observer developed a preference. It began, involuntarily, to care. That small, unwilled act cracked the stillness open.
The Observer is never shown on screen. You occupy its point of view at the instant the universe comes into being, and what waits inside that instant is not empty.
How It Plays
Blink, and the world moves.
Every blink steadies your sight and clears the strain from your eyes, and it also hands the void a turn: enemies advance, platforms drift, paths close or reopen, all of it hidden inside the blackout. You cannot survive by holding your eyes open, and you cannot survive by blinking whenever you like. The game is played in the rhythm between the two, and in how long you can hold that rhythm while something breathes behind you.
A hidden stress value
Enemies close by, forced blinks, Hung Forms boxing you in: stress rises, and the game never shows you the number. It shows you the effects. Your sphere of vision contracts, the edge of sight flickers, and the light ribs dim until familiar ground turns strange. Blinking on your own terms, and standing still, lets your sight breathe back out.
Refuse to blink at your own risk
Hold your eyes open too long and light starts to bleed, moving shapes drag afterimages, and depth flattens until far things look near. Eventually the screen whites out and a forced blink takes over. Enemies reposition harder on a forced blink than they ever do on a voluntary one.
Three ways to be hunted
The Follower stays somewhere behind you and gains ground only when you blink. Stand still with your eyes open and it pauses. The Mirror, a silhouette that copies your head movements a half-beat late, moves only when you look away. Hung Forms never animate at all. They just hang somewhere new after each blink, slowly walling off the routes you were counting on.
Five acts, one exit at a time
Connected regions, anchored by landmarks: tall light ribs, rotating stone rings, chain clusters. Exits unlock when you survive long enough to reach them. Fail, by contact or by getting sealed in, and you restart the current act. Enemy behavior is semi-randomized, so the route you memorized last run is only mostly true.
Screens

The Exit
The void is not infinite. Every region has an exit, and it opens for whoever lasts long enough to reach it. Out past the chain clusters and the rotating stone rings, the fractured light ribs are still pulsing. They are cracked and dim, and they have not gone out. They flicker every time you blink, as if to check that you are still there.
Keep blinking.
